ABSTRACT Name: Nahed mounir gad Makay Date : 10\9\2012 Title of the Thesis: A Counseling Program in Developing some of the Cognitive Aspects of Mentally Retarded Children (Educable). The study aims Presenting the thought and theory of Maria Montessori from the educational pedagogical aspect and its relationship with the linguistics aspect. Moreover, identifying some knowledge aspects and showing the aspects hindering its development. In addition, recognizing the range of applying the Montessori tools in the linguistic field within the Montessori educational environment on a sample of the mentally retarded children, and its effect on their knowledge growth as well as increasing their vocabulary and verbal comprehension as well as enriching the knowledge aspect of mentally retarded children during the educational, pedagogical and rehabilitation stagel, it aims at increasing the linguistic vocabulary and verbal comprehension of a sample of mentally retarded children as well as evaluating the validity of this Guidance program in developing some knowledge aspects in a sample of mentally retarded children; then, generalizing the results of such application at schools and centers after ensuring its effectiveness and effect.. The thesis included used Stannford Bennee Standard – The Fourth Aspect for Measuring Intelligence, A Guidance Program based upon the Linguistics Activities of Maria Montessori's, Individual Training Sessions Observation and Monitoring Form, a form for measuring and monitoring Linguistic Development and Verbal Comprehension, Attention Duration Monitoring and Measuring Form and Memory Improvement Monitoring and Measuring Form. The researcher applied the standards used in thesis on (4) mentally retarded children and has studied them a clinical study. The time age of these cases ranged within 4-10 years. They have been classified according to the parameters applied in the thesis on educable mentally retarded children.The researcher applied the clinical and experimental method and the thesis results were as follow: There are differences between the level of cases prior and after applying the guidance program based upon the linguistics field utilizing the Montessori's “Attention” instruments and way, There are no clear differences between cases a month after applying the guidance program as regards the Attention Duration, There are differences between cases prior and after applying the guidance program based upon the linguistic aspect utilizing the Montessori's way, as regards developing the visual and audio memory, There are no clear differences between cases one month after applying the guidance program as regards developing the visual memory and audio memory, There are differences between cases prior and after applying the guidance program based upon the linguistic aspect utilizing the Montessori's way, as regards the linguistics development as well as the verbal comprehension, There are no clear differences between cases one month after applying the guidance program as regards the linguistics development as well as the verbal comprehension.
