The Effectiveness of A counseling Program (for Children and Parents) to Reduce the Emotional Disorders of Pre-school Children with Speech Disorders
Research Abstract
Pre-school children with speech disorders suffer from emotional disorders which hinder their communication with others. So, this current study aimed to identify the effectiveness of counseling program (for children and parents) to reduce the emotional disorders (social anxiety- shyness- negative self-esteem) for Pre - school children with speech disorders. The sample of study consisted of (34) children ranging from Five to Six (5-6) years. The children are classified into two groups: the experimental group which consisted of (16) children and the control group that consisted of (18) children. The tools of study: (1) emotional disorders scale, (2) slosson Intelligence Test Revised (SIT-R), (3) stuttering severity Instrument (SSI), (4) counseling program for children and parents. The results of study showed that: (1) There are statistically significant differences between the mean rating scores of the children of the experimental group in the post and pre measurements in the first Application (for children only) and the second (for children and Parents) emotional disorders scale with its dimensions and the Total Score in favor of the Post measurements.( 2) There are no statistically significant differences between the mean rating scores of the children of the experimental group in the Post and follow up measurements after Two months from the end of the program on the scale of emotional disorders with its dimensions in(second Application) . The results of the study showed the effectiveness of the program in reducing the emotional disorders,
