Language Delay and its Relationship to Oral Disorders and Dysphagia in Children with Developmental Disorders

Master Abstract

The impairment current study aims to investigate the nature of the rela-tionship between language delay, oral disorders, and Dysphagia in children with developmental disorders. The study sample consisted of 100 children with developmental disorders, divided 15 with Down syndrome, 26 with autism spectrum disorder, 44 with intellectual disa-bilities, and 15 with cerebral palsy. The participants were distributed by gender, with 58 boys and 42 girls, and their chronological ages ranged from 4 to 9 years, with a mean age of 6.79 years and a standard deviation of 1.77 years , The study utilized the following assessment tools: Arabic Pictorial Test for Language in Children with Developmen-tal Disorders (by the researcher), the Checklist for Oral Disorders in Children with Developmental Disorders (by the researcher), and the Checklist for Dysphagia in Children with Developmental Disorders(by the researcher),The study findings revealed a positive statistically sig-nificant correlation between language delay and oral disorders in chil-dren with developmental disorders at (0.01). Additionally, a positive statistically significant correlation between language impairment and Dysphagia in children with developmental disorders at (0.01).
